A long silk scarf is a versatile accessory that can add a touch of elegance to any outfit. Well, someone might say: “Life is too short to wear boring clothes”. How about wearing a long silk scarf as a dress or a top?

Here are 9 ways of wearing a silk scarf as an accessory and a dress/top:

1. Wear a long scarf as a cover-up layer

A silk scarf is a great cover-up item for the beach. Place the scarf behind your back and cross over in front. Tie two loose ends at the back of your neck.

May might say, why do we need to cover up at the beach? Coming from a culture that appreciates the beauty of elegant styles. So, I always try to find ways of dressing that are not too conservative but not too open.

I call this a ‘bridging culture’ – Asian and Western culture!

2. Wear a long silk scarf as a Jacket

Wearing a long silk scarf as a long jacket. This style goes well with both summer and winter styles.

Place your scarf vertically at your back, and hold two loose ends in your hands.

Pull the loose ends under your arms and place them over at the back of your neck. Tie two loose ends together.

Wear it like that, or use a belt to tighten it at the waist. I wear this style with a pair of shorts as a casual look – go out with friends, shopping or on my holiday.

When I am at work, I wear this style in the office with a pair of skinny jeans or leggings. Keep me warm and be stylish.

4. Wear a long silk scarf as an Elegant Vest

I love using a scarf as a layer in the Winter. The colour of this scarf – banana leaf colour is a bit hard to combine with other outfits. But, since it has a sheen effect, I often combine it with a gentle sheen skirt.

Fold the scarf in half at the short side of the scarf, then, fold the long side in half.

Tie a knot at the corner of the four edges together. Tie another knot on the same side as the first knot. Turn the knots inside and place the knot (four corners) at the back. Position and arrange your scarf as you wish. The knots create beautiful patterns at the front and the back.

5. Wear a long silk scarf as a one-shoulder top

It depends on your scarf patterns to style with the bottoms. However, if you wear jeans, then, a pair of jeans will go well with most patterns.

Place your long silk scarf under your arm on one side of your body. Pull one loose end at the front, and one loose end at the back toward the shoulder.

Tie a knot at your shoulder, and create a fall of the two loose ends on your shoulder. Fold the bottom of the scarf at your waist. Tie them together on the same side of the knot on your shoulder. Arrange and create the effect that you want. Link to watch the video at: https://www.youtube.com/shorts/n0J7OWugmFQ

How about wearing your long silk scarf as a silk dress for a romantic evening?

Place your scarf under your arms, and tie a knot at the top corners of the two loose ends. Depending on your body side, you might need to adjust the knot later.

Twist the loose ends to create a loop and put your head through the loop, as well as put one arm through the loop.

Arrange the scarf at the front and at the back to create the look that you want. I often wear this style when we are out in the summer. To hide the knot, I often let my hair down.
